MOBtexting is one of the leading & premier communication platforms as a Service (CPaaS) that provide A2P Messaging and Voice Services across the globe. We’re headquartered in Bangalore.
SMS stands for Short Message Service. It refers to the sending of short text messages from one device to another and in most cases from one mobile phone to another. The size of a Business SMS text message is restricted to 160 characters.
SMS Gateway enables an application to send & receive SMS or MMS to mobile phones. When we have a gateway platform, we don’t need a mobile phone with a sim to send SMS. SMS Gateway acts as an important role in A2P messaging because the volume of messages will be more. It helps to set up bulk SMS campaigns.

The standard length of SMS is 160 characters. It also varies depending on the message type, especially if it is a Unicode message or if the message uses any special characters. A message with up to 160 characters uses up one SMS credit. If the message is more than 160 characters, one credit is used up for 153 characters as the remaining 7 characters are used to sequence the message when it is delivered to the handset. So, one SMS credit is used up for a maximum of 160 characters, 2 credits are used up for 161-306 characters (=153*2), and so on. You can send messages up to 918 characters and this long message will use up to six SMS credits (918 = 153*6).
You can have multiple sender IDs approved in your transactional account and there is no additional charge for this. We only need a signed consent letter printed on your company letterhead clearly mentioning the sender ID to get it approved by the operator.

No. There is no expiry date on the existing credits
We deduct the balance for all SMS sent from the account. We will send every SMS that you submit to us, whether it is sent to an absent or an invalid number, or to the operator, who then, in turn, will try to deliver the SMS.
We are charged by the operator, which is why we, in turn, charge you so it’s very important that you submit the numbers correctly and check if there are any country and operators restrictions that might block your messages. If you have an API connection, you can check the validity of your number database using our HLR service.
MOBtexting provides real-time delivery reports of all the messages sent. You can access the status of each message in the Reports section in Dashboard. The report is further divided by channels (Group message, single message, API, email 2 SMS). Depending on the channel used to send messages, you can check the reports in the respective section. Here is a quick reference of the report status and few possible reasons.

As part of DLT implementation, delivery Receipts are no longer provided by operators for promotional messages. Delivery status for all promo SMS submitted to operators will be shown as ‘Pushed’ initially and changed to ‘Expired’ after 48 hours due to lack of Delivery Receipts. No credits are deducted for numbers in “in DND” status in reports as always.
In line with the implementation of TCCCPR 2018 regulations, telecom operators have shared the following changes that will go live in October 2020. If your messages do not comply with these changes, they will be blocked by the operator.
All SMS (promotional and transactional) must be sent via DLT-approved headers only.
Entity ID/Registration ID is mandatory to be passed along with header and message details.
According to new guidelines shared by operators, all content templates must include your brand name/complete business name/trademark in the message footer. The content templates that have been submitted earlier need to be resubmitted with the brand name included in the template message. Content templates that do not include brand names will be rejected.
The registration process for the DLT platforms can be broadly classified into 5 steps – Getting a Unique ID, Registering Headers, Adding telemarketers, Sharing your PE ID with MOBtexting, and Registering Templates on DLT platforms. There is an additional step required only for VILPOWER and BSNL DLT platforms. Know the detailed registration process here.
